Final project
Make a creative project about your assigned fiction. It should take someone about ten minutes to interact with. A video (whether creative or a lecture presentation or other) should definitely be between 8 and 13 minutes; some other format should take a similar amount of interaction to experience.
It should convey to the audience something about what your assigned fiction shows about topics in artificial intelligence, relating the “artificial intelligence” in the story to issues of artificial intelligence in the real world, but I will leave the details up to you.
You should consider something ambitious and artistic, that AI might help you complete, even though it’s beyond your own abilities. You could do a video game based on your AI; several short TikTok-style videos about different topics relating to your assigned fiction; a partially-AI-generated re-enactment of your fiction; an interpretive dance with AI-generated scenery; an interactive computer program that an AI helped you code, etc.
If you can’t come up with anything more interesting, you can just do a slide show and record yourself giving a lecture.
In all cases, if you use AI to generate a script, you should study it carefully yourself and edit it to make sure it doesn’t sound like it was written by AI - unless there are sections where you want it to sound like AI so you can comment or critique it. (It’s fine to use AI voices - just make sure their script isn’t slop.)
Whether you do a more creative project, or a straightforward presentation, make sure that you have a section where you tell us all the different ways AI was used in the production of your project, whether it was brainstorming ideas, writing parts of the script, making images or music, editing video, or something else. If you think that some of the ways you used AI are related to issues from your fiction, you might discuss this throughout.
You should be able to upload videos here, but if you prefer to post it to YouTube or some other public site, and just include a link here, that is fine too.
I hope to make projects available for all students in the class to see, though only three students will be required to watch and give feedback. Unlike other assignments, this will not attempt to be anonymous (though reviewers will remain anonymous).
